Your throaty 200 lb. growl threatened most demons and kept them at bay<\/p>\n

Manners so proper, a true lady<\/p>\n

you were something to behold.<\/p>\n

For 12 years, you hid your business so<\/p>\n

that I was spared with a bag in my hand.<\/p>\n

Your spirit and muzzle so gentle and kind,<\/p>\n

That the parakeet lived long after his escapade<\/p>\n

in your mouth.<\/p>\n

The butterflies were spared<\/p>\n

because you only chased shadows.<\/p>\n

But the murder of crows that descended<\/p>\n

Soon discovered a caramel tornado with a powerful yell<\/p>\n

Never mind you were only defending an empty dinner bowl.<\/p>\n

The swaying palm fronds, the kites in the sky, the wind<\/p>\n

and the hot air balloons—all shared your deep dislike.<\/p>\n

How funny you were when it came to costumes, parties, and people,<\/p>\n

Tactile was never close enough and your kisses were atypical. The cat licked me more than you.<\/p>\n

How psychic you were when you were a pup,<\/p>\n

to come my lap and place your oversized paw on my knee.<\/p>\n

You made me look into your guileless brown eyes\u00a0to see your quiet plea and rescue you from the cacophony.<\/p>\n

How psychic you were as a maven to know when we suffered, so respectful you were…<\/p>\n

I miss your intuitive, intelligent companionship,<\/p>\n

your unconditional love<\/p>\n

and your big brave heart.<\/p>\n

See you at the gates of heaven, my canine love.<\/p>\n
